Apologies, I simply read too quickly.  For me the button is blue, not
orange/red, but that difference is likely just be due to a different color
scheme.  Oddly I can now replicate the behaviour you report.  I am on Gentoo
Linux.  The slight hint I have is that console reports: 

Cannot add split where sign of shares differs from sign of value to transaction

/var/tmp/portage/app-office/kmymoney-9999/work/kmymoney-9999/kmymoney/mymoney/mymoneytransaction.cpp:208

when cilcking "continue," but it does that whether the amount I enter is
positive or negative.  Temporary workaround is to just add the interest
transaction before starting the reconciliation wizard while we figure out what
is the cause.
