DESCRIPTION
For the last few days before bed, connecting my drawing tablet display (Wacom
Mobile Studio Pro 13) would result in powerdevil crashing, but the system would
continue working as normal.
Later in the night, when disconnecting my drawing tablet from my desktop (as it
has no button to turn off the display otherwise), and turning off my main
monitor as well, would eventually result in a system/GPU crash when left idle.
The GPU fans would spin up loudly and the system would be unresponsive. Could
not enter into a different TTY or regain display output, and so the only option
is to reboot the computer. I was able to witness this live one time where the
main monitor wasn't turned off, and the screen turned to pixel vomit as the gpu
fans spun up. Hard reboot was again the only option as the system appeared
unresponsive (or at least interfacing with it would require blind input).
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect a drawing tablet display. This causes powerdevil to crash
2. Disconnect the drawing tablet display.
3. Leave the PC idle.

`journalctl` reports pageflip timeouts and this being an AMD bug. I honestly
have no idea where to report to, but seeing as powerdevil crashes before
anything else and is seemingly related to power management of displays and
screen, hopefully this is a good starting point.
This only started happening in the last week or so. Notably my drawing tablet,
Wacom Mobile Studio Pro 13 (MSP) I recently started using again after some
unrelated hardware troubleshooting (loose usb connections that was eventually
traced to just having bad cables. Cables have since been replaced and
connections are better). Previously I was utilizing my partner's tablet, which
was a Huion Kamvas 13, which seemed to connect more nicely with my PC/Linux as
a whole without odd display switching and whatnot. As the MSP also contains a
computer in it instead of being purely a display tablet, it requires some extra
hardware for connecting to my PC, and must be put in sleep mode itself in order
to switch into "display only" mode. Notably this was fine months prior for most
of 2025 and early 2026, with the only issue I ran into being an unrelated
segfault in `kwin` input handling which has since been resolved. Bug 493027
Finally, below are the relevant outputs of `coredumpctl` for each instance this
occurred, as well as a shortened output of `sudo journalctl` of what appears to
be the time of the gpu issue shortly after the display is disconnected. These
are quite long so for readability I'll put them in separate comments. Hopefully
that is okay!
