Bug ID: 523840
Summary: apps freeze/memory leak when requesting file picker to
open/save files
Classification: I don't know
Product: kde
Version First unspecified
Reported In:
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general

Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
since some weeks ago, whenever I open the file picker to eg, choose an image to
use for album art on musicbrainz picard, or try to save with gwenview and so
on, with any app, the dialog takes too much to show up, then, to close, and the
app freezes for a moment and finishes the operation of open/save, or just
freezes entirely in the case of musicbrainz picard. it seems that this is also
affecting musecore appimage, making it freeze and crash, forcing me to kill the
app.
also, when looking at the resources monitor, the app requesting the file picker
starts to use so much RAM, that it even hits over 3 GiB of RAM usage.
this is not what should happen.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open an image with gwenview, edit it then save/open musicbrainz picard,
select a local image
2. let it load/save
3. the program freezes for a long time/the dialog takes way too much to show up
to open/save and to close after selecting, then the app requesting the
operation either freezes for a moment, or freezes entirely, like picard or
musescore
EXPECTED RESULT
the KDE file picker/Qt opens instantly, and the apps work as expected, no
memory leakage
