Hi there,
I am using a computer desk with a flat drawer below the actual table plate; on
that drawer my keyboard, which is a TKL keyboard -- that is, one without the
numpad --, rests. I bought a USB touchpad device that I wanted to place next
to the keyboard. However, I found that the drawer is too small to fit both the
keyboard and the touchpad onto it if I use the touchpad in regular orientation.
However, if I rotate it by 90 degrees counter-clockwise, it perfectly fits next
to the keyboard onto the drawer.
I thus looked for a way to configure KDE such that I can rotate the touchpad
input by 90 degrees counter-clockwise, but that does not appear to be
supported. At least I did not find any configuration option that would allow
this. I googled the problem, and it seems some people use their laptops
occasionally vertically like a book and would like to have the touchpad work
with that orientation as well. The answers these people receive usually resort
to use xinput to set some axes values on the touchpad device. However, with
Wayland, which I use, there is no xinput anymore.

On the OpenSUSE forums, someone promptly blamed Wayland and recommended to use
X11 instead, but then at least suggested that it can be alternatively done with
an udev rule involving a setting called LIBINPUT_CALIBRATION_MATRIX, but did
not give an example on how to do that, and mentioned that this does not allow
changing the orientation on the fly:

For me, personally, static changing would suffice, but it might be useful for
the use-laptop-like-a-book-occasionally people to change this dynamically.
Personally, I am thus going to explore the udev rule workaround, but in the
meantime I think it is useful to file touchpad input rotation as a feature
request as there seem to be multiple use cases for this.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open System Settings
2. Go to Mouse & Touchpad → Touchpad
3. Observe there is no setting to rotate touchpad input
OBSERVED RESULT
No setting for rotating the touchpad input.
EXPECTED RESULT
There could be a setting for rotating touchpad input by +90,-90,180 degrees.
