For Appimage/flatpak/snap versions the file may include a sequential build number and Help/About will include part of the git commit when the build was done. I'll read your latest post in more detail later to try again to reproduce. Also, at what point in that process did you create or modify any report? Only modified.customized reports are stored in the data file. Original reports are fully implemented in the code. Please note that removing a payee from a report is not a problem. The problem is if a payee is removed, but the reference to it in the report is not removed. One more question - which report have you modified.
