Example of an alternative icon (rough mock-up)
The current “few clouds at night” symbolic icon
(icons/applets/48/weather-few-clouds-night-symbolic.svg) is very difficult to
recognize from a distance. The shape of the moon is unclear: it looks more like
an arc connecting two rounded rectangular shapes. I showed the icon to several
friends, and they were also unable to tell what it was supposed to represent.
I think the icon needs to be redesigned. I am not a designer, so I have only
put together the attached rough mock-up. I believe that an experienced designer
could come up with an even better solution.
