Bug ID: 525147
Summary: Option to keep the login UI always visible (disable
fadeout/idle hide behavior)
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasma-login-manager
Version First 6.7.4
Reported In:
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected], [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
In plasma-login-manager, the interactive UI elements (user prompt, password
input box, session selector, and power options) hide after a period of
inactivity, leaving only the background wallpaper or clock. Re-exposing the
controls requires active mouse movement or a keyboard stroke.
Please add an option or configuration setting to keep the login UI elements
always visible on screen, disabling the idle fadeout/autohide behavior
completely.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Boot to plasma-login-manager or log out to reach the login screen.
2. Leave the system idle without touching the mouse or keyboard.
3. Observe the login form controls fading out / hiding after the idle timeout.
OBSERVED RESULT
The login UI automatically fades out during idle periods and requires user
input (moving the mouse or pressing a key) to reappear.
EXPECTED RESULT
An option for plasma-login-manager to toggle off the idle fadeout behavior so
the login controls remain visible at all times.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Fedora 44
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.29.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
For desktop power users and workstation environments, having the login prompt
constantly ready and visible without needing an initial "wake-up" input
improves efficiency and prevents unnecessary interaction delays.
