Bug ID: 525268
Summary: Desktop rendering completely breaks down when Firefox
Extensions pop-up is open
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First 6.7.4
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: major
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
When opening the Extensions menu present in the Firefox (155.0.1) toolbar, the
entire screen starts heavily flickering accompanied with graphical glitches
that persist up until the menu is closed, the menu itself never actually
renders.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Firefox 155.0.1 on KWin Wayland 6.7.4
2. Press the "Extensions" button on the toolbar
OBSERVED RESULT
The screen flickers back and forth between two previous frames (play a video to
observe), Firefox and system UI seem to freeze, some texture corruption on some
surfaces (including the cursor and the Plasma panel) can be also observed and
often persists after the menu is closed but usually goes away once said
surfaces are repainted.
EXPECTED RESULT
None of the above happens and the menu displays.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This issue doesn't seem to be exclusive to the mentioned versions of Firefox or
KWin as I remember witnessing similar behavior with Dolphin dialogs a few
months ago, but I couldn't reproduce it consistently. Firefox used to work
correctly very recently too.
