DESCRIPTION

I would like the KDE Plasma Digital Clock / Calendar widget to support
lightweight one-off alarms and reminders that are independent of calendar
events.

The goal is to have a simple alarm/reminder system directly accessible from the
clock/calendar popup in the Plasma panel.

Example use cases:

* "Remind me at 3:30 PM to call John"
* "Alarm at 5:00 PM — move laundry to dryer"
* "Remind me in 20 minutes to check the server"
* "Alarm tomorrow at 9:00 AM — submit paperwork"

These should NOT create calendar events or block time on the calendar. They
should behave more like local desktop alarms/reminders.

Ideally, clicking the Digital Clock widget would show an "Alarms & Reminders"
section near the calendar, with the ability to quickly add, edit, dismiss,
snooze, or delete reminders.

A reminder could contain:

* Date/time
* Short title or note
* Optional notification sound/alarm
* Snooze action
* Dismiss action
* Optional repeat settings
* Enabled/disabled state

This could potentially be implemented as part of the Digital Clock plasmoid, as
a companion Plasma widget/plugin, or through integration with KDE's
notification infrastructure.

The important distinction is that these reminders should remain separate from
KOrganizer/calendar events because calendar events reserve/block time and are
unnecessarily heavyweight for simple one-off reminders.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Click the Digital Clock widget in the Plasma panel.
2. Open the calendar popup and try to create a simple one-off alarm/reminder
with a note.
3. There is currently no lightweight way to create an alarm/reminder without
using a calendar application or creating a calendar event.

OBSERVED RESULT

The Digital Clock / Calendar popup displays calendar information but does not
provide a built-in mechanism for creating simple local alarms or reminders.

Users must use another application, create calendar events, use command-line
tools, or install a separate alarm application.

Calendar events are not an ideal substitute because they appear on the calendar
and can block time in scheduling views.

EXPECTED RESULT

The Digital Clock / Calendar widget should optionally support lightweight local
alarms and reminders.

For example, the calendar popup could include an "Add Reminder" or "+" button
allowing the user to create:

"3:30 PM — Call John"

At the configured time, Plasma would display a desktop notification and
optionally play an alarm sound.

The notification should provide actions such as:

* Dismiss
* Snooze
* Edit

The reminder should not create a calendar event or mark the user's calendar as
busy.

A small list of upcoming alarms/reminders could also appear below or beside the
calendar in the Digital Clock popup.

It would also be useful if this functionality were exposed through a simple
API/DBus interface so scripts, KRunner, or other Plasma widgets could create
reminders.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Operating System: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS / Kubuntu
KDE Plasma Version: [paste output from `kinfo`]
KDE Frameworks Version: [paste output from `kinfo`]
Qt Version: [paste output from `kinfo`]

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I am also interested in implementing this functionality myself as a Plasma
widget/plugin or script if that is preferable to adding it directly to the
Digital Clock widget.

A standalone "Alarm/Reminder" Plasma component that integrates visually with
the Digital Clock popup would also solve the problem.

The main requirements are:

* Very fast creation of one-off reminders
* Optional alarm sound
* Reminder note/title
* Snooze/dismiss
* Does not create a calendar event
* Does not block calendar availability
* Persistent across Plasma logout/reboot
* Ideally integrated with Plasma notifications
* Ideally accessible through KRunner and/or DBus for scripting

This would provide a lightweight equivalent of the alarm/reminder functionality
commonly available on phones, but directly within the Plasma desktop clock.
