            Bug ID: 525568
Summary: Custom shortcuts assigned to toolbars are not restored
after restarting Okular on macOS and may disappear
                    during the active session
    Classification: Applications
           Product: okular
      Version First unspecified
       Reported In:
          Platform: macOS (DMG)
                OS: macOS
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [email protected]

  Target Milestone: ---

I am experiencing a problem with custom keyboard shortcuts assigned to toolbar
entries in Okular on macOS.

For example, I assign a custom shortcut to Annotation Toolbar through:

Settings → Configure Keyboard Shortcuts → Annotation Toolbar

I assign Control+Option+K (⌃⌥K). The shortcut appears correctly in the
Configure Keyboard Shortcuts dialog and works immediately.

However, after quitting and restarting Okular, the shortcut shown for
Annotation Toolbar is blank and the shortcut no longer works.

I have also observed that the toolbar shortcut can sometimes disappear during
the same active Okular session without restarting the application.

The interesting part is that the shortcut is still present in Okular's
configuration file after it stops working.

On macOS, my configuration file is:

~/Library/Preferences/okularrc

It still contains:

[Shortcuts]

annotationToolBar=Meta+Alt+K

even when Configure Keyboard Shortcuts shows no shortcut for Annotation
Toolbar.

I reset Okular's user configuration and reproduced the problem again with newly
generated configuration files.

This appears to affect toolbar-related entries specifically. Custom shortcuts
assigned to ordinary/non-toolbar actions appear to persist correctly.

Steps to reproduce

Start Okular on macOS.
Open Settings → Configure Keyboard Shortcuts.
Find Annotation Toolbar.
Assign a custom shortcut, for example Control+Option+K.
Click OK.
Verify that the shortcut works and appears in the shortcut configuration
dialog.
Quit Okular completely.
Start Okular again.
Open Configure Keyboard Shortcuts.

Actual result

The custom shortcut for Annotation Toolbar is blank and no longer works,
although okularrc still contains annotationToolBar=Meta+Alt+K.

In some cases, the toolbar shortcut also disappears while Okular is still
running.

Expected result

Custom shortcuts assigned through Configure Keyboard Shortcuts should remain
active and should be restored when Okular is restarted, just like shortcuts
assigned to ordinary actions.

Additional information

The issue was reproduced after resetting Okular's user configuration. It does
not appear to be caused by file permissions because Okular successfully writes
the shortcut to okularrc.
