journalctl output showing the service being restarted and then crashing
DESCRIPTION
plasma-plasmashell.service crashes upon startup. This causes taskbar, icons,
widgets, and background to disappear, while allowing startup windows to
function. New windows cannot be opened.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
This occurred randomly after a restart. Recent changes made to the system
include: setting up VNC/RDP, SSH, and (the more likely culprit) adding a music
player widget to the home screen. Before restart the computer was left on
longer than usual, where it locked the screen, and permanently displayed a
6-minute user lock out, prompting me to restart it.
OBSERVED RESULT
Plasmalogin works as expected, but once logged in, screen is entirely black
with only cursor and startup windows available. Core functions that do not
involve plasma work fine.
EXPECTED RESULT
plasmashell behaves as expected.
