The purple bounding box has already reached the current tool position, while the rendered layer group—the white rectangle containing three red squares—remains at an earlier position approximately 100 pixels to the left. The green circle and blue triangle are separate test layers in the same document. When either of them is selected and moved individually, its rendered content shows the same severe delay behind the Move Tool bounding box. Therefore, the problem is not specific to the layer group, the number of layers, or complex image content. When any of these layers is dragged faster, the distance between the bounding box and the rendered content becomes larger.
