Bug ID: 526290
Summary: Wine games at 30 FPS using DXVK slows down Kwin
animations
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First 6.7.91
Reported In:
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
When playing a game via Wine that runs at 30 FPS, various animations on the
system are slowed down immensely.
Animations that I notice are much slower are the alt-tab animation, and also
the fade in/out animations for GPU Screen Recorder UI
(https://git.dec05eba.com/gpu-screen-recorder-ui)
This only happens when the game is the active window. Otherwise, animations are
normal.
My monitor supports VRR and high refresh rates, however, for testing I used a
60 Hz refresh rate, and disabled VRR in both Plasma and my monitor's hardware
settings.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Configure a DirectX game to run at no more than 30 FPS or less
2. Launch the game with DXVK installed in the Wine prefix
3. Try to alt tab or open various overlays
OBSERVED RESULT
System and other animations are very slow
EXPECTED RESULT
Animations play back at the same speed as usual
