--- Comment #7 from piedro <[email protected]> ---
Hi everybody!

Now this is six years after the latest notice here... - thanks for helping with
this Igor!
11 years since I reported it... but I am by far not the only user being
frustrated about it.

Since then it is still the same - Akonadi doesn't create a default entry

"TopLevelIsContainer=true" entry in the
"akonadi_maildir_resource_*rc" file.

This is all it needs!

But the entry will be overwritten every time you touch the Akonadi
configuration GUI through Akonadi Console or Kmail.

Why is this not the dafault? For years and years and years there is always the
same problem of lost backups, disappearing local folders... and so forth. Why?

Is this simply to challenging to set it as default?

But it has to be fixed... - otherwise all the new found trust by government
agencies in open source deployments with KDE will very quickly evaporate. And
this one here is exactly the kind of bug that creates maximum of frustration,
data loss and very brittle workarounds.

I couldn't believe I lost all my local and archived mail again after I opened
the folder properties dialog once and closed with "save".
Sure, I can recreate the config entry and fiddle around to fix it again - but I
don't think this is any solution at all!

Well...
p.
