Thanks for the tips. I am not sure how to check if there is insufficient space
in the temporary directory, reading online I found that /var/tmp/ can get busy,
so I emptied it, but I still get the same error message.

Regarding the digikam4.db file, I am the owner and have read and write
permissions for the file (and all other database files):

$ ls -al /run/media/avalanche/Seagate/DigiKam25/
total 204M
drwxr-xr-x 1 avalanche avalanche    6 Sep 30 23:07 ./
drwxr-xr-x 1 avalanche avalanche   22 Dec  7  2025 ../
-rw-r--r-- 1 avalanche avalanche 3.5M Sep 30 23:07 digikam4.db
-rw-r--r-- 1 avalanche avalanche 1.4M Sep 30 23:07 recognition.db
-rw-r--r-- 1 avalanche avalanche  24K Sep 30 23:07 similarity.db
-rw-r--r-- 1 avalanche avalanche 199M Sep 30 23:07 thumbnails-digikam.db

Is this what you meant or are there other kind of permissions to check?
