[email protected] changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[email protected] --- Comment #10 from [email protected] --- I've had the same issues over the years, on a few operating systems like Mint, and currently on EndeavourOS, with Dolphin version "26.08.2" (In reply to TraceyC from comment #4) > [https://community.kde.org/Dolphin/FAQ/Crashes](https://community.kde.org/ > Dolphin/FAQ/Crashes for some reason your link is malformed and only the "https://community.kde.org/Dolphin/FAQ/Crashes" is needed. Also those instructions aren't great for newbies like myself, though I figured it out. Steps: -use your available package manager to install Valgrind, though it might already be installed. -open a terminal, and enter `valgrind dolphin 2> log.txt` -open dolphin, and replicate your error as best as possible -to access the log, I believe it's called `log.txt` or whatever you named it, is in the home directory, or whatever directory your terminal was in, when you entered the command. For my particular use case, I find that Smb4k gives more predictable on startup behaviour, for use with different applications, so I mount with it. It also locks up when a network drive goes offline, and tends to crash a lot quicker. Using the unmount commands doesn't seem to work either, on either application. my log: ==8587== Memcheck, a memory error detector ==8587== Copyright (C) 2002-2024, and GNU GPL'd, by Julian Seward et al. ==8587== Using Valgrind-3.25.1 and LibVEX; rerun with -h for copyright info ==8587== Command: dolphin ==8587== ==8587== Syscall param writev(vector[0]) points to uninitialised byte(s) ==8587== at 0x7A18387: internal_syscall_cancel (sysdep-cancel.h:53) ==8587== by 0x7A18387: syscall_cancel (sysdep-cancel.h:79) ==8587== by 0x7A18387: writev (writev.c:26) ==8587== by 0x87AA3DD: UnknownInlinedFun (xcb_conn.c:296) ==8587== by 0x87AA3DD: _xcb_conn_wait.part.0 (xcb_conn.c:553) ==8587== by 0x87AA55F: UnknownInlinedFun (xcb_out.c:469) ==8587== by 0x87AA55F: _xcb_out_send (xcb_out.c:470) ==8587== by 0x87AA7D6: _xcb_out_flush_to (xcb_out.c:495) ==8587== by 0x87AA9A4: wait_for_reply (xcb_in.c:514) ==8587== by 0x87ABB45: xcb_wait_for_reply (xcb_in.c:552) ==8587== by 0xF3B4A64: QXcbConnection::initializeScreensFromMonitor(xcb_screen_iterator_t*, int, QXcbScreen**, bool) (qxcbconnection_screens.cpp:465) ==8587== by 0xF3B6476: QXcbConnection::initializeScreens(bool) (qxcbconnection_screens.cpp:284) ==8587== by 0xF3AC3EE: QXcbConnection::QXcbConnection(QXcbNativeInterface*, bool, unsigned int, char const*) (qxcbconnection.cpp:72) ==8587== by 0xF3D8215: QXcbIntegration::QXcbIntegration(QList<QString> const&, int&, char**) (qxcbintegration.cpp:169) ==8587== by 0xF37238A: UnknownInlinedFun (qxcbmain.cpp:23) ==8587== by 0xF37238A: QXcbIntegrationPlugin::create(QString const&, QList<QString> const&, int&, char**) (qxcbmain.cpp:20) ==8587== Address 0xecd7a85 is 4,533 bytes inside a block of size 21,176 alloc'd ==8587== at 0x49EAD13: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:1675) ==8587== by 0x87ACF05: xcb_connect_to_fd (xcb_conn.c:368) ==8587== by 0x87ADC58: xcb_connect_to_display_with_auth_info (xcb_util.c:563) ==8587== by 0x868A8CA: _XConnectXCB (xcb_disp.c:78) ==8587== by 0x8681EB0: XOpenDisplay (OpenDis.c:129) ==8587== by 0xF3B0076: QXcbBasicConnection::QXcbBasicConnection(char const*) (qxcbconnection_basic.cpp:79) ==8587== by 0xF3AC19F: QXcbConnection::QXcbConnection(QXcbNativeInterface*, bool, unsigned int, char const*) (qxcbconnection.cpp:62) ==8587== by 0xF3D8215: QXcbIntegration::QXcbIntegration(QList<QString> const&, int&, char**) (qxcbintegration.cpp:169) ==8587== by 0xF37238A: UnknownInlinedFun (qxcbmain.cpp:23) ==8587== by 0xF37238A: QXcbIntegrationPlugin::create(QString const&, QList<QString> const&, int&, char**) (qxcbmain.cpp:20) ==8587== by 0x66B8903: UnknownInlinedFun (qguiapplication.cpp:1333) ==8587== by 0x66B8903: QGuiApplicationPrivate::createPlatformIntegration() (qguiapplication.cpp:1617) ==8587== by 0x66BA8C7: QGuiApplicationPrivate::createEventDispatcher() (qguiapplication.cpp:1635) ==8587== by 0x70EDE14: QCoreApplicationPrivate::init() (qcoreapplication.cpp:905) ==8587== ==8587== Conditional jump or move depends on uninitialised value(s) ==8587== at 0x12164EA4: ???
