--- Comment #5 from SC <[email protected]> --- (In reply to Sophian Zoeller from comment #4) > I'm experiencing the same issue on Fedora 44, KDE Frameworks 6.31.0, with > image thumbnails (not just video). All image previews stopped working on a > local gocryptfs FUSE mount on a directly-attached btrfs SSD. > > Root cause: KIO's PreviewJob now classifies FUSE mounts as "slow/remote," > which subjects them to the MaximumRemoteSize limit. The default > MaximumRemoteSize=0 in kdeglobals [PreviewSettings] means no thumbnails are > generated for any file on these mounts. > > Workaround: setting MaximumRemoteSize to a nonzero value in > [PreviewSettings] in ~/.config/kdeglobals restores thumbnails: > > kwriteconfig6 --file kdeglobals --group PreviewSettings --key > MaximumRemoteSize 104857600 > > This affects all local FUSE-based encrypted mounts (gocryptfs, encfs, > cryfs), not just video thumbnails. The fix should distinguish between > genuinely remote FUSE mounts (sshfs, davfs2) and local-only ones. > > Related: KIO MR !1534 Funny coincidence that we independently ran into this again at pretty much the same time. I was in discussion with the author of the MR that introduced the recent regression just yesterday: https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kio/-/merge_requests/2371#note_1674455. And just to clarify the timeline for readers: After the issue was first reported in 2024, some time later (forgot how long exactly, but at least a few months) the problem was gone. But very recently kio-6.31.0 includes the aforementioned MR which again caused this regression. This puts us where we are. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
