--- Comment #1 from Vladimir Bely <[email protected]> ---
Same on KDE neon with Plasma 6.8.0. Fingerprint unlock still works, the lock
screen just never shows the "(or scan your fingerprint on the reader)" hint, so
it looks like fingerprint isn't offered.

Had a look at greeter/pamauthenticators.cpp. The hint depends on
authenticatorTypes(), i.e. d->computedTypes, which starts as None and is only
recomputed in the availableChanged handlers. But in 6.8 PamAuthenticator only
emits availableChanged when it becomes *unavailable*, so with a working reader
it never fires and computedTypes stays None. In 6.7 availableChanged was
emitted every time authentication started/stopped, which is why it used to
work.

Debug log agrees: kde-fingerprint runs and reports info/error messages, but
"Availability changed for non-interactive authenticator" never shows up.

Probably just needs a recompute + authenticatorTypesChanged() right after the
fingerprint authenticator is created. Also
recomputeNoninteractiveAuthenticationTypes() never resets computedTypes back to
None, so once shown the hint would never be hidden either.
