After upgrading from Plasma 6.7.5 to 6.8.0, the monitor connected to my
secondary GPU shows only the desktop cursor. Application windows are invisible
on it: a window moved onto that output disappears. The output is listed in
Display Configuration and the cursor moves across it normally. The four
monitors on the primary GPU work fine.
Rolling back to a snapshot with 6.7.5 (same kernel, same Mesa version) fixes
it. Booting the older kernel (7.2.9) on 6.8.0 did not fix it, so the kernel
isn't the cause.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Multi-GPU setup: KWin renders on GPU 0 (Intel Arc B570) with one monitor
connected to GPU 1 (AMD Ryzen 5600G iGPU).
2. Log in to a Plasma 6.8.0 Wayland session.
3. Move any window onto the monitor connected to GPU 1.
OBSERVED RESULT
The window disappears on that monitor. Only the cursor is drawn there. Nothing
relevant is printed in the kwin_wayland journal.
EXPECTED RESULT
Windows are shown on the secondary-GPU output, as in 6.7.5.
Software/OS versions:
- Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed (snapshot after 20261009, updated
2026-10-19)
- KDE Plasma: 6.8.0 (broken), 6.7.5 (works)
- KDE Frameworks: 6.31.0
- Qt: 6.11.2
- Kernel: 7.2.11 and 7.2.9 (both broken on 6.8.0)
- Graphics platform: Wayland
- Mesa: 26.2.4 (Packman build)
Additional information:
- GPU 0 (renders, xe driver): Intel Arc B570, which drives DP-1 (Dell P2014H),
DP-2 (Dell U2212HM), DP-3 and HDMI-A-3 (both AOC 24B3QA3)
- GPU 1 (amdgpu driver): AMD Ryzen 5 5600G iGPU (Cezanne), which drives
HDMI-A-5 (AOC 24B3QA3), the affected output
- Atomic mode setting is enabled on both GPUs
- KWin compositing: OpenGL ES 3.2, Mesa Intel Arc B570
