--- Comment #2 from David Castro <[email protected]> ---
Same bug here, on different hardware and distro, still present on 6.8.0.

Symptom
The greeter comes up normally (login form and wallpaper both shown). The
mouse works: I can click buttons, and clicking Login with the empty field
fails with "Authentication failure". But the password field never shows a
text cursor, not even after clicking into it, and typing inserts nothing.
Caps Lock and Num Lock still toggle their LEDs, so the compositor is
receiving the keys. Unplugging and replugging the keyboard does not help.
Ctrl+Alt+F3 works, and running "systemctl restart plasmalogin" from the VT
gives a greeter that accepts typing normally.

Frequency
First seen 2026-10-10. Since then it has failed on 6 of 14 boots, randomly.
The next boot is usually fine.

What I tested
  1. Input method: plasma-keyboard is not installed here. I overrode
     plasma-login-kwin_wayland.service to start kwin_wayland without
"--inputmethod plasma-keyboard" (confirmed with "systemctl --user show").
It still failed on 2026-10-21, so the input method does not seem to be
     the cause.
  2. Window focus: I added an ExecStop= to plasmalogin.service that loads a
KWin script over the greeter's session bus, so the dump runs just before
the stuck greeter is killed. On the 2026-10-18 failure (6.7.5) it
     reported:
       workspace.activeWindow = plasma-login-greeter
       plasma-login-greeter wantsInput=true active=true
       plasma-login-wallpaper wantsInput=false active=false
So KWin considers the greeter the active window while its text field
shows no cursor and gets no input. That looks to me like the greeter's
window never receives keyboard focus (wl_keyboard.enter) even though
KWin has activated it. (On 6.8.0 the same dump comes back empty,
because switching to the VT now removes the outputs first.)
  3. Logs: with QT_LOGGING_RULES=kwin_*.debug=true on the greeter's KWin, a
failing instance and the working one after the restart log the same
things, apart from ordinary startup noise. Nothing input-related shows up.
  4. Versions: it first appeared on 6.7.4/6.7.5 and still happens on 6.8.0
     (rebuilt against Qt 6.12).

System
  CachyOS (Arch-based), Wayland
  plasma-login-manager 6.8.0, KWin 6.8.0, Plasma 6.8.0, Frameworks 6.31.0
  Qt 6.12.0, Mesa 26.2.4, libinput 1.32.0, kernel 7.2.11-1-cachyos
Desktop: Intel i7-10700K, AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
  2x AOC 2590G4 (1920x1080 @ 144 Hz), wired DELL USB keyboard (413c:2005)

I can attach the greeter user's journal for a failing and a working boot, or
run any other diagnostics that would help.
