That's quite unusual. It used to be this way many years ago, but was migrated to the new form so long ago that even the migration code was dropped. Wait, playing around with some conditions here - is it possible that the software was not installed when you logged in for the first time, and then you installed it later? FWIW, kicker is correct - our launchers all use the same backend, which is named after kicker, so the logs for (the C++ side) of all three are under that name. I don't see any plasma logs and we're not *that* quiet, so I suspect your system is not configured to put plasmashell output into the system log.
