            Bug ID: 527706
Summary: Direct scanout locks FPS to 60/120/180 steps on KDE
                    Wayland
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First unspecified
       Reported In:
          Platform: CachyOS
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: performance
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION
When direct scanout triggers in KWin Wayland while running games in immediate
presentation mode, the FPS gets stuck in step increments matching multiples of
the 60Hz refresh rate (60, 120, 180) instead of running uncapped.

For example, if a game can render around ~140 FPS, it gets capped hard at 120
FPS, and only snaps up to 180 FPS if performance improves enough.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Run KDE Plasma Wayland on a 60Hz monitor.
2. Launch a game in immediate mode in fullscreen.
3. Observe FPS when rendering above 60.

OBSERVED RESULT
FPS locks into steps of 60, 120, 180, etc., instead of floating freely.

EXPECTED RESULT
FPS should be fully uncapped without locking to 60Hz intervals.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: CachyOS
KDE Plasma Version: 6.8.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.31.0
Qt Version: 6.12.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hardware: Intel Core i3-1215U (Integrated Graphics)
