Bug ID: 527707
Summary: KSystemLog memory usage grows indefinitely when trying
to open System Journal tab, leading to OOM
Classification: Applications
Product: KSystemLog
Version First 26.08.1
Reported In:
Platform: Ubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch KSystemLog.
2. Switch to the "System Journal" (Systemd Journal) tab.
3. Leave the application open and let it load logs.
OBSERVED RESULT
The RAM usage of the ksystemlog process grows continuously until the system
runs out of memory. The system starts freezing, and eventually, the Linux
kernel's OOM (Out-Of-Memory) killer force-closes the application to prevent a
full system crash.
EXPECTED RESULT
The application should display the system journal while maintaining a stable,
reasonable memory footprint. It should not consume all available RAM and cause
an OOM event.
