Bug ID: 527739
Summary: Crash in QQuickItemGrabResult::render when
double-clicking a folder in a panel Folder View popup
(list mode)
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First master
Reported In:
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Folder View widget
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add a Folder View widget to a panel - Location: home folder. View mode:
list.
2. Open the popup and double-click a sub-folder to navigate into it.
OBSERVED RESULT
plasmashell crashes (SIGSEGV) and is restarted by systemd. It happened randomly
when opening folders by double clicking.
EXPECTED RESULT
The popup navigates into the folder.
LIKELY CAUSE
- The first click selects the folder. FolderModel's selectionDone calls
generateDragImage() (FolderView.qml, "onSelectionDone:
main.generateDragImage()"),
which calls loader.grabToImage(...) on each selected delegate
(FolderItemDelegate.qml, updateDragImage()). The grab is asynchronous and
completes
on the render thread.
- The second click navigates (dir.cd), the model is replaced and the delegate
that is
being grabbed is destroyed.
- The render thread then finishes the grab and posts an event to an object that
no
longer exists -> crash in QQuickItemGrabResult::render ->
QCoreApplication::postEvent.
In grid mode, folders open in a sub-popup instead of replacing the list, so the
grabbed delegate stays ok. This path should not be affected (not tested).
