            Bug ID: 527890
Summary: Cursor jumps to its pre-Alt+Tab position on click in
                    XWayland game
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First unspecified
       Reported In:
          Platform: CachyOS
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: xwayland
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

Since I updated to Plasma 6.8.1 (kwin 6.8.1-2.1), I have an issue while playing
Final Fantasy XIV using XIVLauncher. When I use Hardware cursor in the game
options, my cursor position jumps to a fixed position every time I left/right
click.

That position seems to be the one that was registered before I switched back to
the game window with Alt+tab. This seems to be mitigated by using Software
cursor option in the game.

What I'd expect is the cursor staying where I clicked, and not moving after
alt+tabbing.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
    1. Launch FFXIV with Hardware cursor option enabled.
    2. Alt+tab out of the game window.
    3. Alt+tab to the game window.
    4. Move the cursor to another position.
    5. Left/Right click.

OBSERVED RESULT
The cursor jumps back to where it was before I Alt+tabbed back into the game
window.

EXPECTED RESULT
The cursor stays where I clicked.

With a downgrade to kwin 6.8.0-1.1, the issue is not happening anymore.
Upgrading back to kwin 6.8.1-2.1 reintroduced the issue.

The game is running through XWayland. I haven't tried a native Wayland Wine.

I'd be happy to test fixes.
