Laptop display works correctly, but the external TV shows severe image
corruption over HDMI
**Description:**
Since KDE Plasma 6.8.0, the external HDMI display on my ASUS K93SM laptop shows
severe graphical corruption under Wayland.
The issue is still present with Plasma 6.8.2 and KWin 6.8.2.
The laptop has two GPUs, both using open-source drivers:
- Intel HD Graphics 3000 [8086:0126], driver: i915
- NVIDIA GF108M [10de:0de9], driver: nouveau
The HDMI output is connected to the NVIDIA GPU. The Intel GPU handles the other
display outputs.
**Steps to reproduce:**
1. Start a KDE Plasma Wayland session.
2. Connect an external TV or monitor via HDMI.
3. Enable the HDMI display.
4. Observe the external display.
**Actual result:**
The HDMI display shows repeated sections of the desktop, horizontal bands,
distorted colors and sometimes large black areas.
The corruption can change while the display is active.
The laptop's built-in display continues to work normally.
**Expected result:**
The HDMI display should show a normal desktop without graphical corruption.
**System information:**
- Distribution: KDE neon
- KDE Plasma: 6.8.2
- KWin: 6.8.2
- Session: Wayland
- Intel GPU: 2nd Generation Core Processor Graphics [8086:0126], i915
- NVIDIA GPU: GF108M [10de:0de9], nouveau
- KWIN_DRM_DEVICES: not set
**Relevant KWin log messages:**
```
drmSetClientCap for Atomic Mode Setting failed.
Using legacy mode on GPU "/dev/dri/card1"
Invalid framebuffer status:
"GL_FRAMEBUFFER_INCOMPLETE_ATTACHMENT"
```
The NVIDIA GPU corresponds to `/dev/dri/card1`.
No additional matching errors were found in the user journal during a
subsequent reproduction of the display corruption.
**Additional information:**
This issue may be related to the multi-GPU problems discussed in bug #527163:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=527163
However, that report has been marked as fixed, while the issue remains
reproducible with Plasma 6.8.2 on this Intel/Nouveau hybrid GPU configuration.
A photograph showing the HDMI display corruption is attached.
