Committed on 30/10/2026 at 08:28. Pushed by cwo into branch 'master'. applets/timer: make vertical panels work like digital-clock Digital Clock when used on a vertical panel shinks down to a minimum font size of 1px. This is basically useless on an ultra-thin vertical panel as it's unreadable, especially with seconds enabled, but it is consistent and the user can increase the panel width, or disable seconds display, to get a more useful font size. Timer works differently: it instead always displays the time in seconds on a vertical panel (which I guess occasionally saves a character), and is supposed to elide (though in practice it sometimes didn't). This is still useless on thin panels (as "1…" is not really helpful), but the user also has a bad experience trying to make it wider, as now it'll be a hard-to-read number of total seconds. Let's just make it work like digital-clock does, and shrink the text. Users that want to use it on a thin panel can still disable the time display and use the progress bar instead (or just a button that expands a popup), or disable the seconds display and get something that might be readable. But users that want to use it on a wider panel get a fully useful widget now. We do need to tweak the Layout widths in a couple of other places to fix some edge-case bugs, but this also aligns some things more nicely, and removes cases where we bind max widths to explicit widths.
