Example #1

DESCRIPTION

There is an inconsistency in how Dolphin sorts-by-name files with leading zeros
(or in serial number terminology, the ought character). A reliable sort order
is important for, as an example, lists of serial numbers.

The inconsistency occurs in whether a leading 0 or string of zeros in a
filename is followed by some other numeral, or by a space, or by a hyphen, or
by a dot. (And other examples leading to this inconsistency can probably be
found.)

In attached image Example-1, the second sort order is an inversion of the
first, only because below the red line the zeros are followed by a numeral. The
sort order below the red line is actually the logically correct sort that
should occur – for consistency - in the two sorts above the red line.

In attached image Example-2, there are two sorts above the red line
(distinguished by the blue line), and I believe these are the correct sort
order – and note that these files are not intermingled in the sort and both
sets of files are easy to distinguish by eye. However, below the red line the
filename formats are intermingled, The difference between the filename sorting
above and below the red line is due to whether the first character is a 0 or a
1.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

Create files with names as in the attached images, and sort them by name.

OBSERVED RESULT

The sorting results are inconsistent, depending on content or the filenames.

EXPECTED RESULT

I expect sorting results to be as shown above the red line in attached Example
1 and Example 2.
