On the right is the Flatpak version of Dolphin, displaying generic folder
icons. On the left is the non-Flatpak version of Dolphin, correctly displaying
folder-specific themed icons.
DESCRIPTION
The Flatpak version of Dolphin does not correctly display icons from the
configured icon theme, even though the theme itself is recognized. As shown in
the attached screenshot, the Flatpak version (right) displays generic folder
icons throughout the file manager, whereas the non-Flatpak version (left)
correctly displays the themed icons, including folder-specific icons for
directories such as Downloads, Music, Pictures, and Videos. Both versions are
running on the same system, using the same desktop environment and icon theme.
This appears to be specific to the Flatpak version of Dolphin rather than a
general issue with the icon theme.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Configure a custom icon theme in KDE Plasma's system settings.
2. Launch the Flatpak version of Dolphin.
3. Navigate to the home directory and inspect the folder icons.
4. Launch the non-Flatpak version of Dolphin using the same icon theme.
5. Compare the icons displayed by both versions.
OBSERVED RESULT
The Flatpak version of Dolphin recognizes the configured icon theme but does
not correctly display its folder-specific icons. Instead, generic folder icons
are displayed, even for directories that have distinct icons in the selected
theme.
EXPECTED RESULT
The Flatpak version of Dolphin should correctly load and display all icons
provided by the configured icon theme, matching the behavior of the non-Flatpak
version.
