selected children
Classification: Applications
Product: dolphin
Version First 26.08.2
Reported In:
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general

AT-SPI event listener and reproducer
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a folder containing three items (I used a.txt, b.txt, and c.txt).
2. Run `python dolphin-selection.py` in a terminal (see attachment).
3. Open the folder in Dolphin and press Ctrl+A to select the three items.
OBSERVED RESULT
The selected count returned by Atspi.Selection.get_n_selected_children() is 3,
as expected, but Atspi.Selection.get_selected_child() is only able to get the
first one.
EXPECTED RESULT
Atspi.Selection.get_selected_child() would also be able to get the other two.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Dolphin: 26.08.2
KDE Frameworks: 6.31.0
Qt: Using 6.11.2 and built against 6.11.2
Fedora Linux 45 (Workstation Edition) (Wayland)
Build ABI: x86_64-little_endian-lp64
Kernel: linux 7.2.11-300.fc45.x86_64
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
As a result of this bug, Orca's command to report the selected items fails to
work in Dolphin.
As an aside, the reason the reproducer and sample output above has three blocks
of output instead of one is because something is firing
object:selection-changed for each and every item, even though they are being
selected all at once. Because object:selection-changed is fired on the
container (unlike object:state-changed:selected, which is fired on the items),
it would be perfectly reasonable to just fire it once when a single
action/command changes the selection -- as long as the selected child count is
correct, and the bug in this report is fixed.
