            Bug ID: 384573
Summary: Save settings when saved by user and not only when
                    application is closed
           Product: kile
           Version: 2.9.91
          Platform: Archlinux Packages
                OS: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

Please save settings when the user saves them by clicking 'OK' or whatever in
the relevant dialogue box. Right now, they seem to be saved only when the
application is closed. But, since the application is likely to freeze or crash
long before the user closes it voluntarily, the settings are unlikely to ever
be saved.

This also results in Kile going through its 'I've just been updated to version
3 and need to destroy all your settings!' routine each time the application is
launched. The only way around this is to make some safe changes and then
immediately quit Kile to get the settings to 'stick'. This then means it no
longer goes through the update routine on subsequent launches.

It is surprising, to say the least, to realise that changes are not saved until
the application is closed. As a user, I would certainly expect them to be saved
when the dialogue is closed, so that they are set on disk regardless of what
subsequently happens to the application.
