shrinked from nvidia-settings

A picture of the bug, the red line was added post screenshot to mark where the
first monitor is supposed to end.
I have two 1920x1080 monitors running on proprietary nvidia drivers, and I have
a script that automatically adjusts the "resolution" on my primary monitor to
1440x1080 whenever I launch Counter-Strike. I do this by changing the
ViewPortIn and Panning in nvidia-settings to 1440x1080. However for some reason
my taskbar panel as well as my background continue to be drawn at 1920x1080
which causes them do draw over my second monitors background and panel (however
not over any other windows). The strangest part about this is that every other
window on my system behaves as if my primary is actually running at 1440x1080
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Setup two monitors with an nvidia gpu
2. add a taskbar panel two each monitor set to the entire width of the monitor
3. switch the left side from native resolution to a smaller resolution using
ViewPortIn and Panning in the advanced options of nvidia-settings
OBSERVED:
the left side desktop background and panel will invade the space of the right
monitor
EXPECTED RESULT:
panel and desktop background should shrink to fit the new monitor size
