This is *not* an accidental change of widget positions, it's *intentional*. This bug report is a feature request, to return the widget positions to where they were before on resolution change and back. It has nothing at all to do with Wayland or X11, basically nothing with the startup process either. I think s_chriscollins proposed solution sounds good.
