You might not be interested to learn that some people have argued already several years ago against some conceptual changes from Plasma 4 to Plasma 5. Others (including myself) have filed other 'bug' reports on other less-well-thought-through features of Plasma 5. I think all of us want to get this ugly thing solved, like yourself, and are mostly keen to advance KDE. However - it seems it does need reiteration! - this (like some others) is NOT a bug! It is a design flaw frightfully well implemented in code.
