I disagree with this being a i18n bug.
Software needs to be made to accommodate translations, not the other way
around.
If the software for some reason can not have dynamic sizes (something we've
been doing for decades), typical solutions for that are elliding + tooltip or
elliding + text scrolling on hover, etc.
