1) Rebooting after changing the setting to threaded rendering seemed to be a
necessity. I've done the same as above, except after a reboot. and I'm 5
minutes in and it hasn't locked up yet. Too soon to call it a fix, but it was
reliably dying instantly doing this before.

The mouse when over the toolbars entries (as in, the box that represents the
window) becomes so laggy it's barely controllable, though. It's fine over the
empty potion of the task bar and the system tray, but as soon as I hover an app
(to show the preview) it lags out hard. Sometimes it doesn't even show the
preview, I have to move the cursor off the toolbar and the back to the same
application and the it will show the preview. The start menu consistently fails
to appear, even when using the shortcut key (hitting the windows/super key). It
comes up about 1 in 10 tries. The system try fails to appear almost all of the
time.

2 PNY Nvidia RTX3090 (it's a reference board 3090)

3) Nvidia proprietary drivers installed via the repo 535.104.05

4) 2, Primary is 1080p on the left, secondary is 1440p on the right. they are
vertically offset , and the second display uses VRR. I set it up with this:

kscreen-doctor \
output.HDMI-A-1.enable \
output.HDMI-A-1.primary \
output.HDMI-A-1.priority.1 \
output.HDMI-A-1.position.0,540 \
output.HDMI-A-1.mode.1920x1080@60 \
output.HDMI-A-1.rgbrange.full \
\
output.DP-1.enable \
output.DP-1.priority.2 \
output.DP-1.vrrpolicy.automatic \
output.DP-1.position.1920,0 \
output.DP-1.mode.2560x1440@165 \
output.DP-1.rgbrange.full

Please forgive my typos, I have medical issues and my eyes and hands are not
working properly right now. (it's not something that could effect my
observations, just control.)

I will try combining threaded rendering with some other settings to see if
these faults disappear.
