Um, no, I was just using Dolphin "open as Admin" but it would not remember
what root/admin was and would definitely forget root if I changed
directories.

You are welcome to close this ticket as "will not fix"

I have deleted KDE neon and moved on.

neon had promise but I want it to work a particular way and it did not, So
I left it for greener pastures.
