If I open a menu (whether from the panel or the desktop) on the right hand edge of the top monitor, and it has a submenu which would appear partly outside the monitor if it appeared to the right of the parent menu, it'll appear on the inbuilt laptop screen instead. Menus anywhere else on either screen don't seem to be affected.
