If not, then you'll need to use a more recent version, as Kaffeine 1.x has several problems with some GPUs and don't have any way to workaround. We're not maintaining those versions anymore. On Kaffeine 2.0.4 or upper, there's an option at configurations that allows you to set libVLC parameters. There are some parameters that allows selecting the video output module of VLC to one that works with your GPU.
