Mh, after all the years of git I now fail to checkout a
                 subversion repo. Or is
it due to svn+ssh:// not enabled (or not for anyone)?

Most items on the extragear website seem to have proper
                 replacement on
        kde.org/applications/ <http://kde.org/applications/>
        <http://kde.org/applications/>.
A few have not, but they could be added as first step:
                 KXStitch, SymbolEditor, Kst

Others seem mo longer maintained/developed, should their
                 homepages just be
dropped completely? Who might be interested in this ancient
                 information?

Kipi is a challenge, it is a framework with plugins and
        not an
                 application. So
where can it have its mini-homepage on kde.org
        <http://kde.org> <http://kde.org>?
And same challenge are possibly the Kopete plugins, but
        they
                 might be outdated
                 now.

See below for full overview on software listed on
        extragear.kde.org <http://extragear.kde.org>
        <http://extragear.kde.org> and please
                 comment.

                 Cheers

             Kronometer homepage is here [1].
I've requested write access to SVN, I can at least add the
             kronometer images.
Not sure about how to add kronometer.json and
             kronometer_generated.json in "www/applications/apps".
I see there a bunch of python scripts and I don't know
        how/whether
one is supposed to use them.
If someone could add those two json above on my behalf, it
        would be
             great :)

Never mind, kronometer is now listed under
        /applications/utilities :)

It looks like only KXStitch and SymbolEditor are missing their
        entry, right?

I have written json files for both KXStitch and SymbolEditor with
    the updates for index.json.

A few things I wasn't sure of though:

The "icon" field - SymbolEditor uses a svgz icon, can this be used
or do I need to create a png of a particular size?

I had the same question, as kronometer uses a svgz icon too. I ended up
uploading 22x22 and 48x48 png icons (exported by inkscape from the svg
one), since that's what all the other applications do in [1].

The "handbook" field - SymbolEditor has handbooks available in the
extragear-graphics module [1], but it is under a heading
"Symbol Editor". If I try to create a link[2][3] or variants using
SymbolEditor it shows a page saying the application was not found.
I don't know where the information in [1] is generated from so I
don't know where to fix it.

No idea. Best to ask it in kde-i18n-doc list.

The "parent" field - I have set this to extragear/graphics but is
there an intention this should be changed to something else?

I think you can ignore this field.

Apart from the two application json files and the change to
index.json, are there any other files that need updating? For
example I notice there is an [application-name]_generated.json file
in [4], is this automatically generated or do I need to create that
    as well?

extractappdata.py (in the extractappdata folder) is supposed to generate
them, but I couldn't manage to make it work (seems a bit outdated). I
ended up creating the _generated.json by hand. The only two fields
required in there should be "category" and "generic name".

I have now added KXStitch and SymbolEditor to www.kde.org/applications under the Graphics section. I will go through and check all the links are working, but it appears to be correct after a cursory look.
