I'm running 7.1-STABLE/Xorg 7.4/KDE 4.2 on two systems, have the following minor problems.
(1) Xorg 7.4 depends on hald and dbus; if kdm is started from /etc/ttys in the normal way hald/dbus don't work correctly and the keyboard/mouse are not detected. I'm starting kdm after logging in as root and executing "/usr/local/kde4/bin/kdm -nodaemon &" and the mouse/keyboard operate correctly. (2) With KDE 4.1 and possibly an earlier version of Xorg 7.4/FreeBSD 7.1-STABLE the screensaver locked up the screen; with KDE 4.2 nothing happens at the appropriate time. I prefer the 4.2 behavior. Has anyone else solved these problems? The system under test is a Toshiba 8100/PIII 600/512MB using the "vesa" Xorg driver. FBSD 7.1-STABLE/Xorg 7.4/KDE4.2 were compiled from scratch.
