I'm trying to follow the canonical Xorg 7.4 approach, which appears to
use hald/dbus. The solution is to write a simple script that executes
/usr/local/kde4/bin/kdm in /usr/local/etc/rc.d; this starts KDE4 after
hald/dbus have started and the keyboard and mouse work.

I had no problems with the screensaver with KDE4.1/Xorg 7.4/FreeBSD
7.1-STABLE on a dual Xeon (SM P6DC6+) with a Radeon X800 AIW AGP card;
currently both monitors are cloning. This machine has also been upgraded
to KDE4.2.

(I've been tracking the [email protected] mailing list for the changes
required by Xorg 7.4)
