Thanks. That worked. Clearly I mixed up some of the steps. >This feature (button) has been there by default since KDE 3/4 . . . It was the default "peek at desktop" button that seemed to be new. The remove feature may have been there but it didn't always work the same way. I recall that editing the panel didn't take over the whole screen as it now does.
