--- Comment #47 from Nate Graham <n...@kde.org> --- Right, that's basically Google trying to get people to use only email clients they pre-approve (obviously their own is on the "we've verified that it's secure" list). KMail isn't the only mail client to experience this issue. I went through the same thing with my mother-in-law's Apple Mail app a month or so ago; new account setup failed in exactly the same way, and the workaround was exactly the same; apparently Google demoted them too. After a few weeks Apple mail somehow got back on the approved list and setup with GMail was easy again. Unfortunately KDE lacks the size and market power of other email client publishers.
