A recent thread at [email protected] produced the usual arguments that it was evil, should never be allowed, highly dangerous etc (but with no statistics of course). More importantly, an attempt to get people to offer $100 or so to fund the change only got three offers. The devs then sent a message that not one of them was interested in doing it - no doubt influenced by all the merchants of doom. So, if you need this in your lifetime - go and find an email client that will support it. KMail won't - so probably won't last anyway. Shame - but there you are.
