*Uco Bank*, a commercial bank and a government of India undertaking reported a phenomenal rise in standalone net profit for the quarter ended December 2008. During the quarter, the profit of the company rose 2.07 times to Rs 1,716.30 million from Rs 827.80 million in the same quarter last year.
Interest earned for the quarter rose 26.86% to Rs 21,259.20 million, while total income for the quarter rose 33.36% to Rs 24,335.20 million, when compared with the prior year period.
