[Kepler-Project] Installing Kepler-Xavante on Ubuntu

What's the preferred setup for installing Kepler/Xavante on a personal 
Ubuntu machine? I tried apt-get'ing the luarocks package and then using that 
to sudo install kepler-xavante, but it didn't work with the default paths. 
(After I ran it with web=/var/www, I got issues about the log directory not 
being writeable, and setting log=/var/log/kepler didn't fix it.)
