I ran a chmod 666 /var/log/kepler and the problem didn't go away (and the
directory got this green highlight in ls that I don't understand).

Hi, Stuart,

Is /var/log/kepler writable by all? You can also try running xavante-start as
root.

What's the preferred setup for installing Kepler/Xavante on a personal Ubuntu
machine? I tried apt-get'ing the luarocks package and then using that to sudo
install kepler-xavante, but it didn't work with the default paths. (After I ran
it with web=/var/www, I got issues about the log directory not being writeable,
and setting log=/var/log/kepler didn't fix it.)
