Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place for the issue I'm
having, so my apologies in advance. I've recently set up a RedHat linux
6.2 server as a kerberos workstation, and in the process I switched the
telnetd from the RedHat supplied one to the Kerberized telnetd. Now, I can
do silent auths (telnet -a) from other kerberized machines:
bash-2.03$ telnet -a zeus
Trying 131.100.0.2...
Connected to zeus.cpicorp.com (131.100.0.2).
Escape character is '^]'.
[ Kerberos V5 accepts you as ``[EMAIL PROTECTED]'' ]
Last login: Mon Jan 21 09:26:34 from 192.168.3.247
You have new mail.
[dbecker@zeus dbecker]$
But when I telnet without silent auth the connection is closed immediately
after the "Last login" line:
bash-2.03$ telnet zeus
Trying 131.100.0.2...
Connected to zeus.cpicorp.com (131.100.0.2).
Escape character is '^]'.
zeus.cpicorp.com (Linux release 2.2.14-5.0 #1 Tue Mar 7 21:07:39 EST
2000) (3)
login: dbecker
Password for dbecker:
Last login: Mon Jan 21 11:17:35 from 131.100.0.180
Connection closed by foreign host.
bash-2.03$
I've tried the different debugging options to try and figure out why the
latter method is not working, but none of the output I get back looks
related. I also tried searching the web, but all of my searches on google
come back with info about telnetd vulnerabilities and other irrelevant
cruft. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what the
problem is or where else to look. I thought the "Last login" line was
printed out by the shell, but I'm not so sure anymore. Any assistance
would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Derek
