Sounds like this is probably a problem in the graphics driver. When you
boot in recovery mode you're getting a reduced-functionality graphics
environment, which means that the logs that were attached don't show us
anything about what happens when you try to boot normally. Could you
attach the /var/log/kern.log file from your machine?

As a workaround, you could try forcing use of X instead of wayland. To
do this you need to edit /etc/gdm3/custom.conf and uncomment (i.e.
remove the # character) from the line which contains
"#WaylandEnable=false".

Title:
  Not booting - 17.10 Beta 2

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I'm testing the latest 17.10 beta and i'm having issues booting.

It goes through grub, onto the Ubuntu boot screen ... the dots
complete and then nothing the machine just stays on this screen then
  eventually the screen turns off.

The only way I can get it to boot is to go into recovery mode and then
  "Resume normal boot"

It will then operate but the screen resolution does look like its the
  wrong aspect ratio.

Not sure what is not working ... help please.
